White Sandalwood Chips

White sandalwood or Santalum album (or Mysore sandalwood) comes from the south of India and is one of the most used woods, along with agarwood or palo santo, for its exceptional olfactory qualities.

White sandalwood has always been used in perfumery for its sweet and woody scent. In fumigation, these sandalwood chips can be added to your incense mixtures or burned alone. It works particularly well with olibanum resins (incense resin grains).

If you burn sandalwood directly on charcoal, be careful not to put it on a charcoal pellet that is too hot, otherwise you will not get the subtle notes of this precious wood. The best way to burn white sandalwood is with special Japanese pellets as the Japanese do during the incense ceremony (Koh-do). If you do not have such charcoal, use a conventional pellet but wait until it is fully burnt (approx. 30 minutes) before placing the sandalwood on it.
