Sal Resin from India

This is the resin produced by a large tropical tree, Shorea robusta, found in several Asian countries (India, Nepal, Burma, Bangladesh, etc.). This tree also produces oil and is used as timber and construction wood.

Its resin is very popular in India or Nepal where it is often called Sal Dhoop although it has many other vernacular names depending on the country or region, such as Indian Damar. Sal resin is burnt by Hindus during ceremonies. It is also mentioned many times in Buddhism, and Gautama Buddha was born under the branches of a Sal tree.

The resin is dry, very crumbly and not sticky at all. You can easily crush it into powder between your fingers. A pleasant fragrance with sweet and spicy notes to create an atmosphere of contemplation.

Sal resin fumigation helps to purify and clarify the atmosphere. It is also believed to have aphrodisiac properties...

Our Sal resin is available in pieces or powder.
