Gum Arabic Kordofan of Sudan
Gum Arabic is produced by cutting the trunk of various types of Acacia tree. This resin is produced in Saharan Africa, from Senegal to Sudan (via Mali, Egypt, Chad, etc.). The best quality is produced in a region of central Sudan, Kordofan, which gave its name to this high-quality resin. Kordofan gum arabic is produced by Acacia senegal trees.
Gum Arabic is being used more and more. In cosmetics, in baked goods and in soft drinks, it is almost indispensable. Once reduced to a fine, white powder that looks like flour, it becomes an indispensable additive that you'll recognise on your labels as E414.
